AERIA+ A new association for an efficient and sustainable airport infrastructure
9 May, 2023

Six organizations from the French-speaking part of Switzerland, working in the field of economy and international relations, have joined forces to create AERIA+, a new association whose mission is to promote and defend the presence of an efficient airport infrastructure in the interest of the regional economy. AERIA+ aims to facilitate a constructive exchange and thus contribute to shaping the future of this infrastructure.

The new French-speaking Economic Association for an Efficient Airport Infrastructure AERIA+ presented itself to the media today. “Through its participation in the public debate and through thematic studies, AERIA+ intends to contribute to the competitiveness of the airport infrastructure in French-speaking Switzerland, while respecting the principles of sustainability,” said Jean-Marc Probst, President of the association.

“An airport infrastructure must be able to meet the changing demands of the public interest, whether in terms of capacity or quality of service,” explains Mr. Probst. He continues: “Today, for example, the performance of an airport is also measured by its contribution to reducing environmental impact. AERIA+ intends to promote common interests and highlight the opportunities that arise from them.”

AERIA+ members are companies – from small local family businesses to multinationals – associations and organizations that all benefit from the quality of this airport infrastructure, as well as individuals. They are active in the fields of import/export, international services, tourism, education, research and culture.

The work of this new association, whose idea originated within the ranks of the CCIG, aims in particular to represent the needs and interests of the regional economy in terms of quality air services and to demonstrate the strategic importance of an airport infrastructure in French-speaking Switzerland.

The Lake Geneva metropolitan area is one of the most important regions for the Swiss economy and the most dynamic in terms of employment development. The excellent international connections provided by a major airport infrastructure play a central role here.
